assie grinned as she signed off of aim, pressing her finger down on the power button placed on the side of her laptop. as the laptop whirred and the screen went black, cassie placed it down softly on her bed, closing it with a click. biting her lip, her eyes tracked around her immaculately clean bedroom, trying to pick an outfit to wear. figuring it would be easier if she looked in her wardrobe to find out what she had that was clean, she walked slightly over to it, pulling open both double doors, and surveying the clothes hung up inside. she was already wearing a plain white v neck top she’d accumulated from work. she often did that, stole some of the nice stuff they had thousands of and wouldn’t notice were missing. she’d never tell anyone, obviously, but it made her feel guilty sometimes. along with the top, she was wearing light blue denim washed jeans, hung pretty low around her waist. clasping at the soft material of the shirt hanging un front of her, she pushed the hanger across the rail as she made her way through the mounds of clothes, finding the grey pocketed jacket she wanted to wear. she took it out and slipped it over her arms, flicking her hair out. she then closed the wardrobe doors, and turned to her left and opened a cupboard door. inside this cupboard was mounds of shoes, but surprisingly they were all in pairs and neatly stacked one above the other, on multiple wooden shelves nailed in there. reaching in towards the very back, she picked out her black laced boots, and slipped her feet into them. she spend a good few minutes doing up the laces, before standing up, shaking slightly, and closing the cupboard door. she then grabbed a black leather bag which held her essentials – her phone, purse and make-up – before finally, heading out of her bedroom. ten minutes had passed since she told julian she’d meet him at a chinese restaurant in town, and she didn’t want to keep him waiting so she hurried out of the house she shared with her best friend and her daughter, and towards the motorbike she owned and loved to drive. safety was always a must with her, as her best friend had taught her when she’d bought the bike, and she slipped on the plastic helmet she’d decorated, pulling the visor down as she stepped onto the bike. ----- julian reyes was a good friend to cassie, no doubt about it. she had fun with him, and they’d banter over anything. and as much as she tried to be annoyed at him, it just wouldn’t work. but, avadell was her best friend and she had a bone to pick with julian about that. nobody, including he, was allowed to call her best friend a rich, spoiled slut. and although she could see the trickiness of the situation they were stuck in, she would still stick up for her best friend over a good friend she’d met just recently. but she hoped news of this didn’t get to avadell – not because she wanted to keep it a secret, because she didn’t want her to think it was a date. because it wasn’t – cassie had been bored and invited julian out for lunch, just to do something, and he hadn’t been working so had said yes. if ava found out, cassie would just profusely convince her the situation was not like it seemed. she didn’t like julian in that way, and she knew he didn’t like her like that. it was simple. on the other hand, cassie could do some spying and matchmaking today. if she could convince julian to loosen up a little bit and not impose stupid no physical contact bans against avadell, she’d be worshipped forever. it was her goal for the afternoon, to convince him of this. as she pushed the button and heard her beloved motorbike rumble into life, she slipped out of the communal parking lot and onto the road into town. in all honesty, she could’ve walked – but where’s the fun in that ? there was no traffic on the road to stop her from going fast and causing her to be late, so she put her foot down on the pedal and pushed her bike into speed, watching the speedometer from the corner of her eye as the gauge went up. she loved this, the thrill of breaking the law and nobody around to see her do it. it had been that way with her parents – she’d been twelve when they’d died, but they’d already started teaching her to drive. in the fields behind their house, hours of bliss between cassie and her dad – hours of bliss that should’ve lasted so much longer. biting her lip as she felt the tears forming in her eyes, she pushed harder on the pedal, wanting an excuse to forget everything in her mind. ----- within record time, she reached the chinese restaurant her and julian had planned lunch at. stepping off the bike and pushing the stand down, the helmet swiftly came off of her head and resumed a position under her arm. she swung her hair out like in the movies, a smirk on her face as she imagined guys looking at her as she did it. of course, there were none – it wasn’t the busiest hour of the day and everyone was eating inside rather than out – but she could still pretend. she realised riding the bike in her shoes hadn’t been the best option because as she stepped off the bike, she felt a bit wobbly on her feet and had to concentrate on walking slowly towards the restaurant. once to the door, she grabbed a hold of the door frame and weighted herself up, before pushing open the clear glass door and entering the small, fresh smelling diner. breathing in, she looked around for julian, her eyes tracking over the many couples eating in here. flicking her hair out of her face once more, she found herself a vacant table and took a seat, stretching out in her chair as she waited for her friend to come. ome people liked to take the easy route in life. Unfortunately, Julian Reyes was not one of them. He seemed to be a glutton for pain. A bonafide masochist and it showed. The constant juggling between school and work had taken a toll on his outward appearance. The constant hours spent working diligently made bags line the lower rims of his eyes. Hair was flying all over the place after his desperate attempt to sleep earlier. He looked like a complete and utter mess. He felt that way too. His forbidden desire for his boss’s daughter complicated things far too much. All the work he accomplished would have been done in vain at the very second he started anything with Avadell. In his opinion, she wasn’t worth it. Around her he couldn’t help but feel inferior in every single way. He wasn’t worthy of her and he wasn’t even going to bother trying to fit her standards. Thus, the whole situation accumulated making the twenty year old feel considerably frustrated and insignificant. ---T he one person that did not make him feel that way, however, was Cassie. Unmistakably the best friend of Avadell, but completely opposite in his mind. He wouldn’t go as far to say that she was his best friend, but she was high up on his list. Even with her confusing and sometimes flirtatious comments he was never unsure around her. Hell, he didn’t always understand her or what she was saying but in no way did he have to worry about whether or not he was saying the right thing. Never did he have to control his erratic mood swings around her because she never got easily offended; at least not with him. This sort of caused him to think about why he even liked whom he did in the first place. Not that Avadell wasn’t gorgeous or had some good qualities, but Cassie had the same thing if not more. There was no risk factor with her in anyway. He could hang out with her without worrying about the consequences of his actions; work-wise or emotionally. That’s why he decided to forget about having frozen pizza and working on his new project from work to go eat lunch with her. It was probably the first time this whole week that he’d actually done something for himself. Pushing back in his worn out leather chair he closed his computer. ----H is eyes flickered up to the clock on his wall and began cursing himself for dragging out his motions at a leisurely pace as he didn’t even realize that a little over five minutes had passed since he told Cassie that he was on his way. It was a major flaw of Julian’s to not pay attention to details, even the most obvious. There could be a huge flashing sign right in front of him telling him to stop and he wouldn’t. That was probably why he had so many tickets. Yet, because of this fault of his he wouldn’t be able to change out of his itchy work clothes. Quickly pulling of his tie and throwing it to the ground where all his other clothes resided, Julian exited the apartment with keys in hand. Another major failing of Julian’s was that he was a little bit too much on the frugal side. Not in the sense that’d he’d make Cassie pay for her own lunch, even if it wasn’t a date, but the fact that he found it pointless to buy a car once he arrived to Los Angeles. It had become a serious problem as he’d always find a way to miss one of the busses or he’d forget what bus followed which route. Luckily enough he’d managed to obtain a sweat on the bus heading to downtown Los Angeles. While sitting in the musky smelling bus he’d considered calling Cassie as fifteen minutes had passed since he last talked to her but immediately shot that idea down as he assumed she’d be late as well. After all, women spent an enormous amount of money on clothes, bags, shoes, makeup, and well anything that would make their looks more appealing they’d at least spend the time to put it all together. While he didn’t believe that the women he was going to meet needed any of that to make her look fantastic, he just assumed that she was like any other girl. So when he stepped outside of the blue bus he was a tad bit surprised to see Cassie’s motorbike sitting in the parking lot of the Chinese food chain. ----A s he pushed the clear glass doors open his eyes scanned the crowded restaurant for Cassie. Once his eyes passed over the far right corner he was immediately greeted with the sight that was Cassie. He couldn’t help but sending her an appreciative glance over her. Remembering their earlier conversation online the joked around that most guys had a hard time resisting her. He could see why now that he looked at her clearly. And now that he saw it he couldn’t help but give one of the waiter a cold glare as the boy did the same thing that Julian was doing just three seconds ago. Making him all the more confused than he was already. Julian was becoming frustrated with that current emotion becoming increasingly prevalent in his daily life. Shaking off his thoughts he walked towards the table that Cassie had reversed for them. Sitting down in the chair directly across from Cassie he sent her a soft smile, “ “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for long. Traffic was bad.” Signaling for a menu at some random waiter, Julian gave a brief look of contempt as his eyes met the same awkward teenage boy that was staring at Cassie a little while ago. While it was complete insane to even think that the lanky kid had a chance with her he couldn’t feel a bit upset as the boy drew closer to them to give Julian a menu. Just as the boy arrived at the table Julian addressed Cassie, “So love, how has you day been so far?” A smirk tugged at the edge of Julian’s lip as the waiter flushed at the term of endearment that Julian sent to the woman across from him. t a g g e d, kelly! n o t e s, ewww, excuse the lateness and how horrible this is. o u t f i t, here l i s t e n i n g t o, season of love – shiny toy guns[/blockquote][/blockquote][/sup]
