Being so virtuous wasn't always her lifestyle. Believe it or not, miss Penance Rutherford was quite the party girl. She drank more alcohol than her system would allow , she took drugs that didn't agree with her system and she did in fact bite off more than she could chew. After getting arrested for drug posession , twice in fact and put into the hospital for an overdose , she turned her life to celibace and the Ten Commandments. But right before that turning point in her life, she met Lucifer van Conrad. I guess you could say she fell head over heels for him right on the spot. Isn't it every girl's fantasy to date a bad boy? Well, it was not Penance's. Her mother always warned her that guys like that were after only one thing, sex. Penny did not believe her, in fact, she really thought that her mother was trying to sabotage her relationship. Lucifer and Penny hit it off almost immediately, despite his appearance , she was in love. They had not slept together but she wasn't exactly worried about that. Lucifer was the sweetest guy towards her, bringing her flowers, candy , buying her things, stuff a normal boyfriend would do. He didn't pressure her into doing anything she didn't agree with. But as the weeks turned into months, he grew more distant. The presents stopped coming, the candy stopped , the flowers, the texts, the phone calls and even the text messages. He always up excuses about why he couldn't hang out with her , he was too busy or he had a long day. Penny was heartbroken. But she thought of the perfect plan to win her boyfriend back, she was going to sleep with him. Now, she was only eighteen and still believed in fairy tale romances and things like that. She wanted desperately to believe that sleeping with him would bring him back to her. But penny had no idea about his reputation. She had no idea what Lucifer was really like. Penny saw the nice, sweet boy on the outside but outside their relationship, he was cheating on her with many different girls. She was very gullible and figured that he was madly in love with her too. So, on a cold Friday night, Penny left him a voicemail saying she was ready. That got his attention almost immediately. Lucifer had raced over to her house and showed up, out of breath and sweaty. If you would notice closely, you could see the lipstick stains on his neck. That was already two signs that Penny should have noticed. But, of course, she was too much in love with the guy standing before her. After the deed was done and Penny had gotten over the fear, she went to hug him and he pulled away. It was like he had slapped her. She fell back, defeated and hurt. Lucifer had left her with some bruises, on her sould and on her body. He had pulled on his clothes and muttered a good bye. That was the night she chose the path of God.

From that day forward , she hated herself. She wanted to die and figured that she was just a terrible person. But after awhile , the pain went away. Eventually Lucifer and Penny became friends. But after that – that's all they were. Penance would not let herself get close enough to him so that he could hurt her. She canceled on him any time they made plans , she barely answered her phone when he called. Penny became the good little church girl her parents respected. She went to church everyday , she didn't have sex , she didn't do drugs, she didn't do anything that God wouldn't approve of. When Lucifer started showing interest in her again – she was taken aback. But than she realized that he only wanted sex. Penny didn't take it lightly and went off on him. Than she found out that he was in new york , with her cousin / best friend. Things took a big dip downwards for the young girl. For once in her life , she went out with a friend and got extremely drunk. At that point – she was dating this guy she did actually like. At the end of the night , she ended up drunk , a new tongue piercing , a new nose piercing , and got laid. But when she woke up in the middle of the night , her boyfriend left her a note saying he just wanted sex and she was stuck with a hungover and two new piercings. Penance realized she had unprotected sex and it had shattered her world. When she went to the doctor , she found out that she couldn't get pregnant , at all. Her week was just going to hell in a handbasket and she couldn't stand it. Penny was getting a bunch of her stuff together for her church retreat and found a bunch of Lucifer's clothes in her room. She packed it and put it in a box and she was going to drop it off at his place.

The girl grabbed her bag and the box with his things and got into her car before driving away. Penance hadn't been to Lucifer's place in what ? Almost two years. She turned the radio on and her Praise Jesus cd blasted hymns as she hummed along and pulled into his driveway and knocked on the front door , the box balanced on one hand. ” Lucy , hello ?” As she knocked the second time , the box fell , CD's , clothes , teddy bears , and other assortments fell out on his front porch. ”Crap ! “ Penny said as she bent down and started picking things up.
